September in Los Angeles….

Sunset over LA skyline, soft golden light, palm trees.

Being in Los Angeles in September feels like returning to a familiar rhythm — after moving between three countries, there’s something grounding about sun-soaked streets, predictable heat, and the pulse of a city that never truly slows down. The weather is warm enough to enjoy late afternoons outdoors, yet the city hums with the energy of creativity, conversation, and connection.

This month is also “For Your Consideration” season, when films aiming for awards are front and center. The industry buzz is palpable, from premieres to Q&As, and every conversation, event, or screening feels tied to the larger narrative of storytelling in LA. It’s a season where being present isn’t just about showing up — it’s about contributing, observing, and engaging with peers, directors, and producers in meaningful ways.

Where I Stay

For the month, I based myself in West Hollywood, at “The Level” my home away from home in Vancouver and LA, this specific location provided the perfect balance between proximity to film events, fitness studios, and weekend markets. Being in this area made it easy to slip into a daily rhythm — morning coffee runs, casual lunch spots, evening events, and weekend escapes all felt seamless.

Film & Industry Highlights

September began with the Smashing Machine premiere, an evening that reminded me why LA is the heartbeat of storytelling. Watching Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt walk the red carpet was unforgettable — their energy and charisma set the tone for a cinematic month. Walking the red carpet, meeting colleagues, and celebrating creative work felt like returning to the core rhythm of the city.

A few days later, I attended a Q&A for After the Hunt with Julia Roberts, diving into production challenges, storytelling choices, and her perspective on the film. These sessions reminded me why being part of the conversation is central to LA life in September.

September also included a special F1 screening on the big screen, with Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski participating in the Q&A. Experiencing the thrill of racing combined with cinematic storytelling reinforced why LA is uniquely suited for spectacle, creativity, and networking.

Finally, the month wrapped up with Roof Man, as well as screenings of One Battle After Another and Highest to Lowest on the big screen on separate days. Each film offered a distinct energy — from high-octane action to human drama — and reminded me why LA in September is a fertile time for cinema, conversation, and connection.

Daily Meals & Brunches

One of my favorite parts of living in LA is the food culture — breakfast, brunch, lunch, and casual dinners all feel like lifestyle moments. Highlights included:

Weekend Activities & Routines

Weekends in LA are about balance — blending activity, leisure, and the city’s iconic experiences:

  • Hiking: Hollywood Hills trails for sunrise views and city panoramas

  • Beach time: Venice Beach sunsets and strolls along the boardwalk

  • Shopping: Century City for designer finds and lifestyle browsing

  • Tennis: Every morning at Plummer Park to stay grounded and active

  • Sports: Dodgers games at Dodger Stadium or on the big screen while enjoying wings

  • Beach & lifestyle: Hanging out at The Cove for sun, friends, and casual vibes

These routines give structure to city life while leaving room for spontaneity and connection.

Lifestyle, Fitness & Rhythm

LA is a city of rhythm — balancing professional events with wellness and play. Pvolve sessions at 6 am are my favourite sessions, only beaten by PT’s with Dani, followed by tennis to maintain energy and focus.

Reconnecting & Social Life

After the summer months, I’ve cherished coffee, lunch, and dinner with friends — slower, intentional moments that balance the intensity of FYC events and film screenings. Conversations flow easily over cappuccinos, casual dinners, or brunch, reinforcing the sense of being settled, even as a nomad.

Personal Highlights

Amid work and social rhythm, September had personal moments that made the month memorable:

  • Disney: Celebrating our anniversary and embracing nostalgia and playfulness

  • Weekend escapes: Venice Beach, The Cove, and city strolls that ground daily life

  • Dodges Games: At the stadium or out with some wings.

These experiences underscore why LA blends work, leisure, and lifestyle so seamlessly.
